<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To support the detection of esophageal hiatal hernia from a chest image. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A control part 31 of a medical image display device 30 cooperates with an esophageal hiatal hernia detection support program 351 and detects a tumor candidate shadow from the chest image. Then, the control part 31 extracts right and left lung field areas from the chest image, recognizes the lower end contours of the right and left lung field areas, specifies the highest points of the respective lower end contours, generates a straight line connecting the respective highest points, and defines the straight line as a diaphragm upper end line. Then, when the detected tumor candidate shadow is overlapped with the diaphragm upper end line, the control part 31 determines that the tumor candidate shadow is the shadow by the esophageal hiatal hernia.
