The method involves loading a steering actuator i.e. steering cylinder (5), with hydraulic liquid. A hydraulic pump (4) is driven by a summarizing gear shaft, such that rotation of a drive shaft (1b) of an electric motor (3) is overlaid with rotation of a steering shaft. Displacement of the hydraulic pump is adjusted by the steering actuator, where desired position of the steering actuator is regulated depending on vehicle speed. The electric motor is driven depending on a steering wheel position, vehicle speed and a position of the steering actuator. An independent claim is also included for an electrohydraulical steering comprising a hydraulic pump.
