The damper (1) has a guiding element i.e. longitudinally movable stop plunger (3), connected with a stop element (14) of a motor vehicle sliding door in an area of an opening end position. The guiding element is movable by the stop element such that the guiding element is prestressed in a direction of the stop element by a spring element (4). The guiding element and the spring element are supported in a housing (2). The spring element is arranged coaxial to the guiding element. An adjusting screw (10) defines adjusting length of the guiding element.
