An endoscope has a distal objective lens and an image transmission system that transmits the image from the objective lens to the proximal end. The disclosed endoscope has at least one sensing and recording device arranged inside the endoscope and which senses at least one ambient parameter to which the endoscope is exposed, such as temperature, pressure, humidity, radiation, other ambient conditions and/or impact or shock loads. The information recorded and stored by the sensing and recording device can be accessed from the outside or be transmitted to the outside without dismounting the endoscope. |
