PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily read disk management information without any errors in a disk for recording with a plurality of types of data recording densities.

SOLUTION: An optical disk 1 has a plurality of data recording areas 103 and 104 for recording information with data recording densities different with each other. Information on the data recording densities in the data recording areas 103 and 104 is recorded in a specific format that does not depend on the data recording densities of the data recording areas 103 and 104 in a management information recording area (BCA area 101 or PIC area 102). Each data recording area is arranged by divided it within one and the same surface of the disk, or is arranged by divided it into a plurality of recording layers.
