<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a personal computer to correctly grasp the presence or absence of updating of a status file in a printing apparatus which prints on the basis of a file transferred from the personal computer. <P>SOLUTION: The printing apparatus is connected with the personal computer via a USB cable. In response to a demand for referring to the status file transmitted from the personal computer at a predetermined timing, the printing apparatus makes the status file that includes status information related to the printing apparatus read into the personal computer (201, 205 and 207).
