<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a secondary battery from being full charged even if it has characteristics easier to deteriorate in a full charged state than in an intermediate charged state. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In a vehicle allowing an energy storage device to be charged with an external power supply, discharge capacity ΔS, a difference between after-charging electric energy SOCend, which is a remaining capacity SOC after the previous charging, and before-charging electric energy SOCstat, which is the remaining capacity SOC before charging, is calculated (S102) when the energy storage device is charged with the external power. A target charge capacity SOCT is calculated (S110 to S114) based on an average discharge capacity SOCtmp, which is an average for N times of this discharge capacity ΔS, and charging is finished (S116 to S122) at the time when the remaining capacity SOC of the battery reaches the target charge capacity SOCT. Thereby, the deterioration of the battery can be suppressed because the battery is not full charged always and its charging is finished in the intermediate charged state.
