PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stabilize the alignment of liquid crystal molecules and to increase the manufacturing efficiency of liquid crystal display devices by reducing a rise in temperature of the liquid crystal due to absorption of ultraviolet rays. Ž
SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing a liquid crystal display device which aligns liquid crystal molecules in a predetermined direction by radiating ultraviolet rays to a liquid crystal display substrate in which a plurality of pixels are formed in a matrix between a TFT substrate and a counter electrode substrate and the liquid crystal is sealed while applying an electric field to each pixel of the liquid crystal display substrate includes the steps of: bringing one surface of the liquid crystal display substrate into contact with a cooling medium; radiating a predetermined quantity of ultraviolet rays to the liquid crystal display substrate while applying a predetermined amount of electric filed to each pixel; and after a predetermined time of ultraviolet radiation, changing the electric field strength applied to each pixel at predetermined time intervals while maintaining the ultraviolet radiation.
