<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnifying observation device capable of easily making prior arrangement, even when an observed object different in size is observed, and to provide a tool for the magnifying observation device. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The magnifying observation device 1 includes: a transparent plate 26 at least a part of which is used as a transparent part 26c and in which an observation area A is set on the side of the upper surface 26a of the transparent part 26c; an illumination means 30 which is fixed to the side of the lower surface 26b of the transparent plate 26 and can emit irradiation light made incident on the transparent part 26c obliquely from the side of the lower surface 26b; a microscope 11 which is arranged below the transparent plate 26 and can image the observation target part of a workpiece W positioned in the observation area A in such a manner that the workpiece W comes close to or comes into contact with the upper surface 26a of the transparent part 26c, through the transparent part 26c; and a display means 20 which displays an image imaged by the microscope 11.
