<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To utilize heat energy of a high temperature cast slab cast with a continuous-casting machine, as heat energy for heating a cast slab charged into a heating furnace. Ž<P>SOLUTION: An apparatus for imparting/absorbing heat energy includes: a heat energy absorbing part 14 for absorbing the heat energy 18 from the high temperature cast slab 11 cast with the continuous-casting machine; a heat energy imparting part 15 for imparting the heat energy 18 absorbed with the heat energy absorbing part 14 to the low temperature cast slab 19 charged into the heating furnace; and a connecting part 16 for connecting the heat energy absorbing part 14 with the heat energy imparting part 15. The apparatus for imparting/absorbing heat energy also includes liquid metal 17 filled into the inner parts of the heat energy absorbing part 14, the heat energy imparting part 15 and the connecting part 16, and with the use of the apparatus, the heat energy 18 is imparted to the cast slab 19 charged into the heating furnace.
