The control device has a driver circuit (60) with a number of switching transistors (Q1-Q6), used for supplying a DC voltage to each stator phase winding of the switched reluctance motor, the control signals for the switching transistors provided by a microprocessor (80) in dependence on the detected rotor position provided by a position sensor (Sa), after an initial run-up phase in which the microprocessor provides a series of control signals for alignment of the rotor. An independent claim for a switched reluctance motor control method is also included. |
