<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: an apparatus for mounting an electronic component reducing a work load in operation input by unifying a method of operation input in the apparatus for mounting an electronic component, which constitutes an electronic component mounting line; and an operation instruction method in the same. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In this apparatus for mounting an electronic component executing a plurality of types of work by the same apparatus by replacing a work head incorporated in a common platform in accordance with the type of work, a production start button 42a, a model change button 42d and the like are arranged in a basic operation command input part 42 of a display panel 4a of an operation part as common individual input parts irrespective of the type of a work content, and a control process and an arithmetic process in response to an operation instruction from the individual input part are executed in accordance with a work program or an arithmetic processing program corresponding to a work head identified by a plug-in function.
