PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a component identifying system for precisely identifying the characteristics of a PTC element by one-time measurement without requiring a switch mechanism: and to provide a component identifying method: and a component to be identified. SOLUTION: The component identifying system includes: a component 1 to be identified having a PTC element 11 and a PTC element 14 for characteristic variation; and an identifying device 2 having a voltage applying portion 3 for applying voltage, a detecting portion 25 for detecting the characteristics of the PTC element 11, a characteristic storage portion 231 for storing reference characteristics and a determining portion 21 for determining whether or not the detected characteristics are compatible. The component identifying system determines whether the characteristics of the PTC element 11 by voltage to be applied via a connection point 31 at which one end of the PTC element 11 and one end of the PTC element 14 for characteristic variation are connected to each other and a resistance element 13 connected between the connection point 31 and the PTC element 11 are compatible with the reference characteristics.
