PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve image quality by suppressing color changes corresponding to viewing angles about a skin color in which a color change corresponding to a viewing angle is conspicuous and to achieve power saving. SOLUTION: In a display, the light-emitting luminance of a light source for illuminating a liquid crystal panel and the gain of an image signal are together set. In the display, a viewing angle variation of an image to be displayed on the liquid crystal panel is previously detected and stored according to the luminance of the image signal. A skin color detection part 18 detects a skin color from the image signal, generates skin color distribution corresponding to the luminance in each image of the image signal and multiplies the skin color distribution by the viewing angle variation corresponding to the luminance to generate a variation in the skin color distribution due to the viewing angle. A distortion module 5 controls the light-emitting luminance and gain of the light source based on total variation of the skin color distribution due to the viewing angle. COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
