<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric motor which can accurately detect a position of a zero cross generated by a change of the magnetic flux of a permanent magnet. Ž<P>SOLUTION: First slots 31a to 31i are arranged so as to orthogonally cross with respect to the radial direction of a rotor 3, second slots 32a to 32i are arranged from both ends of the first slots 31a to 31i toward the external peripheral face of the rotor 3 along the radial direction of the rotor, air gaps 33, 34 are formed along the external peripheral face of the rotor from ends of the second slots 32a to 32i, and the magnetic flux of the permanent magnet is efficiently concentrated on the face of a magnetic pole.
