<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To properly select target area for tree thinning by generating current status information by classifying trees properly and using the same. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The system for selecting target area for tree thinning includes: a unit 310 for generating sub-compartment image data of current status of forest, the unit 310 generating sub-compartment image data of current status of the forest based on sub-compartment image data and the image data of the current status information of the forest, wherein the sub-compartment image data for dividing a forest into sub-compartments is generated based on image data of the current status information of the forest relating to the current status information of the forest; a unit 320 for generating image data of sub-compartment attribute information, the unit 320 extracting sub-compartment attribute information representing features of each sub-compartment and generating image data of sub-compartment attribute information relating to each sub-compartment attribute information; and a unit 330 for generating image data of target area for tree thinning, the unit 330 selecting target area for tree thinning based on the image data of the sub-compartment attribute information and geographical advantage of the forest and generating an image data of the target area for tree thinning representing the selected target area for tree thinning.
