The controller has a power supply (2), a high frequency (HF) receiver (20), and a motor control (5) provided with a motor (4). A battery (13) provides emergency power supply to the motor control with the motor during power failure. The battery is charged via a charge controller (9) during start-up time of the power supply. A switched controller (56) controls a terminal voltage of the battery. A motor relay (48) includes a contact (50) for controlling the motor control during power failure. A charging condition of the battery is monitored by a controller (16). An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling a door.
