The method involves attaching covering units (6) to an inrun (2), and covering the inrun by a movable sliding part of the covering units. The sliding part is released from the inrun during passage of a ski jumper through lateral movement of the sliding part perpendicular to the inrun. The ski jumper is arrived from a cabin (3) to a sitting joist over stairs (4). The movement of the sliding part is caused by a controlled drive e.g. chain drive, that is operated by an electric motor. An independent claim is also included for a device for protecting an inrun of a ski-jump system.
