The roller e.g. inking roller (16) and developer roller (24), has a base body (26) manufactured from a material e.g. glass, ceramic, glass fiber or carbon fiber, where the material has a resistance of 10 ->4 ohm cm and an elasticity modulus of 50 kiloneuton per square millimeter. An electrically conducting layer (28) is arranged on a surface of the body and is subjected with an electrical potential. A function layer (30) i.e. ceramic layer, is arranged on the conducting layer, and another function layer i.e. chromium oxide layer, is arranged on the former function layer. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a toner roller.
