PURPOSE: A method for preventing damage to the coating of a welded rear surface of an LNG carrier storage tank is provided to prevent a welded rear part from being deformed due to heat as the welded rear surface is not extremely heated during welding a coupler base socket. CONSTITUTION: A method for preventing damage to the coating of a welded rear surface of an LNG carrier storage tank comprises following steps. A reference line for installing a coupler base socket is marked on a welded surface(201) inside the LNG carrier storage tank. N pole or S pole is installed on the mark of the reference line of the welded surface. A welded rear part(202) is formed on the welded surface by moving the N pole or the S pole toward a wall surface. The welded rear surface part is cooled by attaching a cooling pack(300) on the welded rear part. The coupler base socket is welded with the inside of the LNG carrier storage tank.
