PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a packing material for an electrochemical cell, which has stable heat resistance, electrolyte resistance, steam gas barrier properties, and moldability. SOLUTION: The packing material for the electrochemical cell, used for an outer package 20 for internally sealing and housing an electrochemical cell body 22 by heat-sealing a heat-sealed section 20a as a peripheral edge of the outer package, is structured by sequentially laminating at least a base material layer 11, a metal foil layer 12 where chemical treatment is applied on the surface, and a thermal adhesive resin layer 15. A heat-resistant resin layer 16 is arranged between the metal foil layer 12 and the thermal adhesive resin layer 15, and the heat-resistant resin layer 16 is bonded to the metal foil layer 12 and the thermal adhesive resin layer 15 via acid denaturation polyolefin layers 14a, 14b.
