PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drain discharge method for an air compressor, for efficiently discharging a drain while coping with a change of a drain generation amount. SOLUTION: The drain discharge method comprises previously finding a corresponding relationship between a change in the temperature of suction air or in the temperature and humidity thereof and a change of a drain generation amount per unit time for full-load operation of the compressor, and a drain discharge amount per unit time for a drain discharge valve 5, actually measuring the temperature of the suction air during the operation of the compressor 10 using a sensor 7, measuring and integrating a full-load operation time, calculating the temperature actually measured in accordance with the corresponding relationship, a time for integrating the full-load operation, the drain generation amount generated in the time for integrating the full-load operation of the compressor from the drain generation amount and the drain discharge amount per unit time, and the drain discharge amount involved in one opening/closing operation of the drain discharge valve 5, finding an operation pattern such as an operation interval or an opening time for the drain discharge valve 5 to make the drain generation amount and the drain discharge amount correspond to each other, and controlling the operation of the drain discharge valve 5 in accordance with the found operation pattern.
