Compounds of formula R 2 N-Ar-(CO 2 R<SP>1</SP>) n are prepared by reacting H 2 N-Ar-(CO 2 R<SP>1</SP>) n with ROH in presence of I 2 or a C 1-8 alkyl iodide at 150-250‹ C. under superatmospheric pressure; R is C 1-3 alkyl, R<SP>1</SP> is C 1-18 alkyl or cycloalkyl, Ar is aryl and n is 1-3. Examples describe the production of ethyl p-diethylaminobenzoate, dimethyl 5 - dimethylaminoisophthalate and methyl 5-dimethylamino-2- naphthoate.</p> |
