PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a plasma display in which, even if a phosphor paste is applied by a dispenser method or the like, failure such as omission is suppressed, thereby causing neither display quality degradation due to irregular application of a phosphor film nor crosstalk. SOLUTION: In the method for manufacturing the rear plate of the plasma display, a barrier wall precursor consisting of glass paste containing glass powder and organic components is formed on a substrate and then baked to form a barrier wall. The barrier wall precursor includes a stripe-like main barrier wall precursor, and an auxiliary barrier wall precursor which is stripe-like and is almost orthogonal to the main barrier wall precursor. The width of the bottom part of the auxiliary barrier wall precursor becomes narrower as it goes toward an intermediate part between an intersection with the main barrier wall precursor and an intersection with an adjoining main barrier wall precursor.
