THREE-DIMENSIONAL VIDEO TRANSMISSION SYSTEM, VIDEO DISPLAY DEVICE AND VIDEO OUTPUT DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: a three-dimensional (3-D) video transmission system in which 3-D video data can be transmitted from the video output device to the video display device via an HDMI standard compliant interface; a video display device; and a video output device.

SOLUTION: In a recording and reproduction device 100, 3-D compressed video data recorded on an optical disk 101 are reproduced by a recording and reproduction unit 102 and restored to baseband 3-D video data by a codec 103. A format conversion unit 104 converts a recording format of the optical disk 101 to an HDMI transmission format matching the display capability, acquired beforehand, for the display device 200 and outputs the data. A format conversion unit 204 in the display device 200 converts a 3-D video data transmission format received via an HDMI cable 205 to a display format. A display control unit 201 displays the 3-D video data that have been converted to the display format on a display panel 202.
