PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic focus adjustment mechanism which compatibly achieves responsiveness and stop accuracy in accordance with zoom magnification. SOLUTION: Optical equipment includes: a zoom detector 111; a focus lens 120; constitution including a focus mechanism 121 and a motor 122; a lens microcomputer 130 acquiring a position of the focus lens 120 in such a state that a subject image is in focus as a target focus position; and constitution including the lens microcomputer 130 setting a pre-stopping speed in accordance with a result of detection by the zoom detector 111 and a pre-stopping speed table 142. The constitution including the focus mechanism 121 and the motor 122 drives the focus lens 120 at the pre-stopping speed set in advance by constitution including the lens microcomputer 130 and the pre-stopping speed table 142 when driving the focus lens 120 near the target focus position.
