<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To miniaturize an internal combustion engine by sufficiently making an actuator approach a cylinder without interference of the actuator with a throttle body, the cylinder or a cylinder head. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In this on-vehicle internal combustion engine 10 provided with a throttle valve drive system 11 driving a throttle valve by the actuator 40, the actuator 40 formed into a rectangular shape in a vehicle side view is arranged in an area positioned behind a front throttle body 21 and above a crankcase 12 directed to a vehicle body rear, and also the longitudinal direction of the actuator is directed along the approximate bisector Z of the area of an included angle formed by the rear surface of the throttle body 21 and the upper surface of the crankcase 12 in a side view viewed from a vehicle side surface.
