摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To highly accurately measure a dot position recorded in each recording element of a recording head at a high speed by improving a measurement error due to carriage fluctuation of an image reading apparatus and a measurement error due to deformation of paper. <P>SOLUTION: Information are read while a measuring line pattern, which includes a plurality of line blocks 0-3 to be recorded using recording elements separated by a predetermined distance in the actual arrangement direction of the recording elements of the recording head and a reference line block (line block 4) including lines to be recorded by the same recording element for each line block, is formed and the longitudinal direction of the lines (92) on the measuring line pattern is directed to the sub-scanning direction of the image reading apparatus.
