Heading F4H In an absorption refrigeration system having an absorber 10, evaporator 15, generator 30 and condenser 32, the generator heating line 41, 42 includes a pump 43 whose speed is varied according to the load on the system. As illustrated, the pump supplies hot water and is driven by an A.C. motor which is controlled by a phase control circuit in accordance with temperature in the system output line 53 as sensed by a thermistor 80. Alternatively, the speed of the pump motor may be responsive to temperature in strong solution line 38, and the difference between generator and condenser temperatures or to the level of solution in the absorber. A pump 22 recirculates intermediate strength solution to the absorber and a pump 25 passes a constant quantity of weak solution from the absorber to the generator under all conditions of operation. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown), the generator is heated by steam from a line 241, the variable speed pump acting on condensate in the return line 242. In a further modification, Fig. 3 (not shown), the variable speed pump acts on combustion air supply to a burner in the generator. In modifications (not shown), the pump speed may be varied by a magnetic coupling control and a variable speed turbine may be used.</p> |
