PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce frictional force generated between a ball and a holder in a shift check mechanism. SOLUTION: The shift check mechanism (10), which is used for a shifting mechanism having a shift lever (1) and a plurality of detent grooves (20) moved by operation of the shift lever, includes a spring (12), a ball (14) pressed to one of a plurality of the detent grooves by the spring, a cylindrical holder (16) for housing the ball and the spring, and a spring seat (13) housed in the holder slidable to the holder and interposed between the spring and the ball.
