<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and method for processing a radiation image, for adding radiation image information detected by two radiation detectors and obtaining an added image comprising sufficient sharpness and appropriate contrast. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This invention is related to the apparatus and method for processing the radiation image. The apparatus for processing the radiation image includes: a first radiation detector (24) for detecting radiation transmitted through a subject; a second radiation detector (28) for detecting the radiation transmitted through the first radiation detector; a gradation processing part (70) for executing prescribed gradation processing to at least one of first radiation image information detected by the first radiation detector and second radiation image information detected by the second radiation image detector; and an addition processing part (74) for executing addition processing by a prescribed addition ratio for the first radiation image information and the second radiation image information at least one of which is gradation-processed.
