<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To transmit power by use of a simple and compact structure. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In the device, a lockup release state (OFF in the drawing) where input of hydraulic oil to a lockup chamber 42 and output of hydraulic oil from a converter chamber 36 are performed, and a lockup state (ON in the drawing) where input of hydraulic oil to the converter chamber 36 and output of hydraulic oil from the lock-up chamber 42 are performed are switched according to whether current-carrying to a solenoid part 70 of a linear solenoid valve 60 is performed or not, and the engagement pressure of a lockup clutch 40 is adjusted by adjusting the opening area of each port by position adjustment of a spool 100. Therefore, torque can be transmitted with a simple and compact structure, compared with a structure including a lockup relay valve for performing switching between the lockup state and the lockup release state, a lockup control valve for adjusting the engagement pressure of the lockup clutch, and a solenoid valve for outputting a signal voltage for drive to each valve.
