摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means inhibiting a sudden rise of engine torque or engine speed according to the gradient of a road surface in restarting the engine from an idling stop state. SOLUTION: An automobile W is equipped with an engine 1, a torque converter 20 including a lock-up clutch 26, and an automatic transmission 10. The engine 1 is stopped with a control unit if an engine stop condition is satisfied, and the engine 1 is restarted if an engine restart condition is satisfied, when the automatic transmission 10 is in a D-range while the automobile W stops. The sudden rise of engine speed in engine restart is inhibited through the slip engagement of a lock-up clutch 26 and rolling vibration of the engine 1 is inhibited when the engine restart condition is satisfied.
