<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily specify the sequence of sample DNA. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The apparatus 80 for supporting the analysis of a biopolymer includes; a solid state imaging device 10; a plurality of kinds of the spots 60 comprising a known biopolymer and scattered on the light detecting surface of the solid-state imaging device 10; a drive circuit 70 for driving the solid-state imaging device 10 to output the signal corresponding to the light detecting quantity of the pixels of the solid-state imaging device 10; a subtractor 87 for performing the subtraction of the output of the drive circuit 70 to output the difference thereof; a variable gain amplifier 88 for amplifying the output of the subtracter 87; and an A/D converter 89 for quantizing the output of the variable gain amplifier 88. The subtracter 87 arranges the minimum value of the output range of the drive circuit 70 to the lower limit value of the input dynamic range of the variable gain amplifier 88.
