<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for updating data, capable of updating an execution program and table data stored in a flash memory with a DSP read in when started up, via a serial communication interface. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This device is provided with the DSP 7 having an internal memory 5 and a DMA controller 6, a data bus 8 connected to the DMA controller 6, a flash ROM 9 connected to the data bus 8 and for storing data to the internal memory 5, a versatile serial communication means 13 for receiving data to the flash ROM 9 from an external computer 2 via a serial transmission route, and a bus bridge 10 connected to the versatile serial communication means 13 via a data bus 12, and the DSP 7 updates the execution program and the table data for computation stored in the flash ROM 9, using a data file for writing-in to the flash ROM 9 received from the computer 2 via the bus bridge 10.
