<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hot-melt adhesive excellent in comprehensive properties such as flame retardancy, adhesion, storage stability and processing suitability without containing an environmentally-unfriendly flame retardant such as a halogen compound or antimony oxide, and an article coated with the adhesive. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The hot-melt adhesive contains (A) a (meth)acrylic ester polymer and (B) a phosphorus-based compound which is liquid at 180°C. Though the hot-melt adhesive does not contain an environmentally-unfriendly flame retardant such as a halogen compound or antimony oxide, it is excellent in properties such as flame retardancy, adhesion, storage stability and processing suitability. When the hot-melt adhesive further contains (C) a metal hydroxide, it has further improved flame retardancy and also has further improved processing suitability. The article coated with the hot-melt adhesive is not harmful to the environment, has high safety to the human body, and is excellent in properties such as flame retardancy, adhesion, storage stability and processing suitability.
