<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow a user to receive mail using a plurality of mailboxes for transmission and reception of mail over the Internet, and to continuously use the received mail after read, and also to provide a novel mechanism of distributing information using the mail transmission and reception method. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A mail server 1 distributes mail set addressed to a specific recipient to a mailbox of the specific recipient, as well as mail with a specified theme to a mailbox set with the same theme. The distributed mail can be edited afterwards by a sender and recipients. As a novel mechanism of distributing information using the mail transmission and reception method and the transmission and reception system, a user can assign the same theme as that for mail to an advertising banner to increase the targeting capability of the advertising banner. Furthermore, the user can also assign the same theme as that for mail to a commodity to convert the review about the commodity into mail, so that the review can be sent to those who need it.
