PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an electronic endoscope apparatus which displays the intrinsic fluorescence image of a body to be observed or intrinsic fluorescence spectrum concerning a desired interest region in the body to be observed, and does not require an excitation light cut filter. SOLUTION: The electronic endoscope apparatus includes: a light source 14 for irradiating the body to be observed with white light; a color imaging device 15 for imaging the body to be observed; and an image display means 34 for displaying the color image of the body to be observed, based on the output of the color imaging device 15. The electronic endoscope apparatus further includes: a position designating means 101 for designating the interest region in the color image displayed on the image display means 34; a calculating means 100 for estimating the intrinsic fluorescence spectrum of the body to be observed concerning the interest region, based on calculation of the RGB three-color image signals concerning the interest region designated by the means 101 and prescribed matrix data based on forecast information; and a spectrum display means 34 for receiving the output of the calculating means 100 and displaying the spectrum.
