PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel gas adsorbent having enhanced structural stability capable of adsorbing hydrogen in a greater amount. Ž
SOLUTION: The gas adsorbent is structured by including: a first material of a three-dimensional structure constituted of a plurality of basic skeletons each formed by a metal nucleus (Zn) and a ligand (p-hydroxybenzoic acid) comprising an aromatic ring as its main skeleton, a carboxyl group and a functional group capable of forming a coordinate covalent bond other than a carboxyl group, each attached to the aromatic ring, by binding to each other in a ratio of 1:1; and a second material capable of chemically adsorbing hydrogen constituted of catalytic metal (platinum) supported by an inorganic support (carbon). The ratio of the first material to the second material is 90:10 by weight. The gas adsorbent exhibits a volume of adsorbed hydrogen gas four times greater than the calculated value theoretically calculated from the volume of hydrogen gas to be adsorbed by each of the first material and the second material, which clearly indicates the presence of a synergetic effect of the first and the second materials.
