<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of achieving, at a high level, both user convenience improvement and contribution to power saving. Ž<P>SOLUTION: When absence of a standby job at a time point of receiving a novel job is determined as a result of the determination due to a determination section, an operating frequency arithmetic operation section performs an arithmetic operation to define a frequency f1, corresponding to a class of the novel job, read from stored contents in an operating frequency management table as an operating frequency relating to the novel job based on first correction data. When presence of the standby job at the time point of receiving the novel job is determined, an arithmetic operation is performed to define a maximum operating frequency f0 as the operating frequency relating to the novel job based on the first correction data.
