摘要 <p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a backlight unit for reducing tube unevenness in a direct backlight unit. <P>SOLUTION: The anisotropic light diffusion layer 4 is formed of a base resin and acicular fillers having a different refractive index from that of the base resin. The acicular fillers are scattered in the base resin to be directed substantially in the same direction, and the longitudinal direction of the acicular fillers is substantially the same as the tube axis direction of a rod-shaped light source. In the backlight unit a reflection panel 1, a plurality of rod-shaped light sources 2, the light diffusion layer 4, and the light diffusion panel 3 are provided in this order. The acicular filler is 2-5000μm in major axis and 0.1-20μm in minor axis.
