PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display apparatus that enables a user to recognize a period when the process of sharpening an image is performed. SOLUTION: The image display apparatus (projector 1) includes: an image display (an image projecting part 10) that displays an image on the basis of an image signal; an image control unit (a control part 20, a focus control part 20a, and a zoom control part 20b) that performs an image sharpening process, which sharpens the image displayed by the image display; and an informing unit (a buzzer drive part 28 and a buzzer 29) that informs the start and the end of the image sharpening process performed by the image control unit.
