<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a writing implement simple in structure, effectively usable as a bookmark of a book by thinning its thickness in a flat state and effectively usable as a pen by forming a substantially cylindrical or elliptic cylinder shape only with the deforming operation of both ends. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The writing implement includes a long cylindrical holder part 1 formed by joining the long sides of right and left flexible sheet materials of substantially rectangular shape bendably to each other and forming tip and rear end side holding flap parts 5, 7 bendable inwardly, at the side edges of the short sides of the sheet materials, and a pen body 3 held longitudinally inside the holder part 2. The writing implement is changeable into a pen mode of swelling out the external shape of the holder part 2 in substantially cylindrical shape in the state of bending the holding flap parts 5, 7 almost at a right angle toward the inside of the holder part 2, and into a bookmark mode of making the holder part flat by projecting the holding flap parts 5, 7 to the outside of the holder part 2 or bending them along the inner wall surface of the holder part.
