摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus capable of storing compressed image data obtained by compressing image data read by an image reading section based on a set compression rate in a memory without causing an increase in working load or deterioration in processing efficiency, when the compressed image data cannot be stored in a storage region set in the memory based on the compression rate. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The image processing apparatus 1 includes: a compression processing section 40 for compressing the image data obtained by reading an original image by the image reading section 3 and stored in the memory 6 at a compression rate set by a compression rate setting section 21, and storing the compressed image data in the memory 6; and a control section 71 for setting a storage region of the compression image data in the memory 6 and activating the compression processing section 40. The control section 71 is configured so that upon receiving a capacity excess signal from the compression processing section 40, a storage region having a capacity larger than the capacity of the storage region set on the basis of the compression rate set by the compression rate setting section 21 is set again and then the compression processing section 40 is activated.
