<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the occurrence of electric failure of an actuator mounted in a fork body or of a lead wire, and to enable spring force adjustment of a suspension spring while ensuring the telescopic motion of a damper mounted in the fork body. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The fork body consisting of a vehicle body side tube 1 and a wheel side tube 2 includes the damper and the actuator 3, and the suspension spring S and a jack mechanism. The lead wire 4 extending from the actuator 3 is radially inserted through a cap member 11 which closes the upper end opening of the vehicle body side tube 1 and extends to the outside of the cap member 11. The jack mechanism includes a lower end side portion 11e of the cap member 11, and a piston member 13 slidably linked to the lower end side portion 11e to define a pressure chamber R3 which is expanded/contracted between the lower end side portion 11e and itself. The pressure chamber R3 is expanded/contracted with the supply/discharge of pressure oil thereto/therefrom via a pressure oil supply/discharge passage L formed in a site eccentric from an axial core portion of the cap member 11, whereby the piston member 13 is moved up/down relative to the cap member 11 to move up/down the upper end position of the suspension spring S.
