<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device that solves the problem of peeling, and also achieves reliability of light shielding, in a black matrix (light shielding film) arranged while being superposed on a sealing material. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device includes: a first substrate and a second substrate which are oppositely arranged while sandwiching liquid crystal; an image display section which is formed from an aggregate of a plurality of pixels in a spread direction of the liquid crystal; the sealing material which is formed between the first substrate and the second substrate while surrounding the image display section for sealing the liquid crystal; and the light shielding film, which is formed on a surface of the liquid crystal side of the second substrate while having a portion extended from the image display section and overlapped with the sealing material, and in which an opening is formed at least in an area of the pixel in the image display section. The light shielding film of the portion overlapped with the sealing material is formed of a dimple having a depth not reaching the thickness of the light shielding film, continually or intermittently along a circumferential direction of the sealing material on the surface of the sealing material side. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
