PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultrasonic diagnostic apparatus which can shorten an image generation time to improve a frame rate even in a color mode wherein two-dimensional color doppler images are synthesized into a B-mode image. SOLUTION: The ultrasonic diagnostic apparatus transmits ultrasonic waves according to a plurality of drive signals, and is equipped with an ultrasonic probe including a plurality of transducers to output a plurality of reception signals by receiving ultrasonic echoes, a transmission based signal processing means to supply a plurality of drive signals to the ultrasonic probe so as to transmit pulse trains, in the same direction, including a plurality of pulses respectively having frequency components of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing waves which have mutually different central frequencies and are orthogonally crossing, and a reception based signal processing means to compress a plurality of pulses having different frequency components included in respective reception signals outputted from the ultrasonic probe which receives pulse trains from the same direction, and to generate B-mode image signals based on the compressed pulses.
