PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light receptacle having good optical coupling efficiency, and to provide an optical module using the light receptacle. SOLUTION: The light receptacle includes: a sleeve case having a through-hole extending from one end to the other end, through which a ferrule is inserted from one end side thereof; a split sleeve stored in the through-hole of the sleeve case, and having a radially-elastic inner hole capable of holding the ferrule; a spacer disposed on the other end side of the through-hole of the sleeve case. The through-hole of the sleeve case includes a level difference part located closer to one end side of the through-hole than the split sleeve. and both axial end portions of the split sleeve are held by the level difference part and the spacer.
