<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical transmitting module which achieves an efficient conversion without loss, with a resolution greater than or equal to that an A/D converter has, in digital converting the monitor current of a laser diode (LD) by the A/D converter. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The optical transmitting module in which the ambient temperature of an LD1 is detected, and in which the bias current Ib and the modulation current Im of the LD are adjusted according to the ambient temperature, includes a temperature monitoring means to detect a temperature and a bias current monitoring means to detect a bias current. The bias current monitoring means includes a control portion 8 which divides the bias current Ib into a monitor current I<SB>1</SB>which varies in a predetermined range and a shunt bias current I<SB>2</SB>which varies stepwisely in a constant magnitude current, and an A/D converter 6 which digital converts the monitor current I<SB>1</SB>.
