An electromagnetic clutch with a brake has a novel function which, after the electromagnetic clutch is disengaged, accurately prevents co-rotation of a driven shaft to improve response when the brake is activated. A brake means (9) is configured such that a facing (93) is constantly made to slide on a brake friction surface (5d) of a rotor by a spring (92) having a base end supported by a field (8) through an arm (7). The magnitude of brake torque (Tb) caused by the brake means (9) is set to be not less than slide torque (Ta) between a driven shaft (2) and a drive shaft (1) and less than driving torque (Tc) by the drive shaft (1). |
